My work spans a number of different media including collage, mixed media, textiles and drawing. I am currently developing a number of issue-driven pieces looking at the power of money, while appreciating the beauty of the bank note.

Using the form of the suit jacket as a canvas I am looking at different sections of the garment, dissecting it so that each part of it means a different thing. I am also using audience participation in my work, as money is something that connects us all and we all have different experiences with it. I want to explore how something which is so fragile and easily damaged can have such a strong hold over us in our everyday lives.

I wanted to use stitch because it has always been stereotypically regarded as women’s work and yet to me the suit is very masculine. I wanted to challenge this by reincorporating hand embroidery but give it a contemporary twist by stitching into printed bank notes instead of fabric.
